The ridges are high.

Hello. I am Haratake, a part-time farmer.
This farmland was originally a rice paddy, and according to my neighbors, lotus roots were also grown here.
In other words, it is land that tends to retain water, so some kind of improvement is necessary.
When I looked it up on the internet, the specific methods mentioned were (1) mixing rice husks into the soil and (2) planting wheat.
Both methods are said to create gaps in the soil and improve drainage.

However, I didn’t have much time, so I decided to focus on creating ridges for now.
Since there was a risk of water pooling, I made the ridges slightly higher.
However, once I started thinking about it that way, some of the ridges ended up exceeding 50 cm in height.
So, I thought, “No, no,” and made some lower ridges as well.
The ridge width is basically 1 meter, but I also made some wider ones at the end, measuring 1.5 meters.
I am referencing the “Kinchans Farming Method” or “Carbon Cycle Farming Method.”

I dug relentlessly to make ridges. As a result, I lost about 5 kg in May. Was I too fat before?
After making the ridges, I spread leaf mold. Due to budget constraints, I used about 5 to 10 kg per 10 square meters.
That’s a little on the low side. I’ll just have to trust in the original fertility of the soil.
Then I covered it with mulch, and it was done.
