Hello. This is Haratake, a part-time farmer.
The Obon holiday is over. During the first half of the holiday, it rained as if the rainy season had returned, which was a relief. I think the recent lack of rain must have been difficult for the crops.
I immediately visited Field No. 1. As expected, the heavy rain followed by good weather had caused the weeds to grow vigorously! They were growing at an amazing rate. On the other hand, the edamame that hadn’t sprouted yet were finally starting to grow! Indeed, rain brings many blessings.

In addition to the edamame, the melons were also growing large. Melons are said to have originated in the arid sandy soils of the Middle East, but perhaps they were craving rain after all. The vines were growing extensively, so I left three and cut the rest.
The edamame have also grown significantly. I also trimmed the new shoots, and they’re developing a nice color. I’m looking forward to their continued growth.

Finally, the green onions. They are probably ready for harvest now. Some are already lying down. I need to harvest and eat them soon. I’ve done a lot of soil mounding, but the green parts above seem to have grown larger than last week.

Well, that’s all for now. See you next time.
